About the Role
Brunswick Group is offering a 12-month paid internship in their Tokyo office, providing hands-on experience in advising clients on reputation management, business, financial, political, and societal issues. Interns will gain exposure to high-stakes advisory work, learn from experts, and build a foundation for a career in stakeholder engagement. High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time roles.
Responsibilities
- Support client teams across a range of assignments.
- Conduct industry, company, competitor, and stakeholder research.
- Monitor media, policy, and digital conversations in Japan and internationally.
- Analyze developments shaping corporate reputation, public discourse, and stakeholder expectations.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and intelligence materials.
- Support research on current affairs, business leaders, prospective clients, and issues affecting clients.
- Assist with client materials, presentations, stakeholder mapping, campaign planning, and communications strategy development.
- Support issues and crisis response efforts through rapid research, fact-finding, and narrative analysis.
- Support external client events, including investor meetings, media briefings, and conferences.
- Work on assignments requiring analysis of Japanese and international media, policy developments, and business trends.
- Gain exposure to how Brunswick develops advice for clients across corporate communications, financial situations, digital strategy, social media, SEO, AI, and reputation management.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Exceptional research, analytical, and synthesis skills.
- Strong academic background.
- Interest in strategic communications, corporate affairs, business, media, public policy, markets, and current affairs.
- Ability to analyze complex information, identify key insights, and communicate them clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and ability to recognize nuance in complex issues and stakeholder dynamics.
- Interest in corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement, issues management, and factors shaping public discourse.
- Understanding of corporate, financial, and macroeconomic concepts.
- Interest in how organizations navigate business and reputational challenges.
- Strong digital literacy and interest in the role of AI, social media, and emerging technologies in business and communications.
