About the Role
Envalior is seeking a talented Technical Product Manager to join their Asia R&D team in Tokyo, Japan. This role serves as the regional focal point for material technical expertise, bridging communication between regional commercial and operations teams, global R&D, and manufacturing. The position also involves close collaboration with Product Line Management, regional customers, and raw material suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to Purchasing for supplier discussions and raw material quality issues.
- Coordinate evaluation of new/alternative raw materials and provide input for final approval.
- Support Regional APQP Process Adherence and Execution for new/modified materials.
- Challenge Manufacturing on appropriate APQP procedures for process/hardware changes.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing on capability analyses and define improvement actions.
- Coordinate the preparation for scale-up/introduction of new/modified materials with Manufacturing.
- Ensure quality focus during process developments by providing input on quality aspects.
- Decide on the release of non-conforming commercial grade batches and advise on unreleased batches.
- Approve sample production of commercial grades on non-commercial lines and decide on material release.
- Approve release of produced batches before standard QC properties are available to meet customer timelines.
- Support Manufacturing with raw material expertise for complaints and issues.
- Support Manufacturing with material expertise during customer audits.
- Support ADTS, CAE, BDM, and Sales with material technical expertise.
- Act as a complaint processor for performance complaints.
- Act as a challenger for extensive or expensive new data generation programs requested by Application Development.
- Handle technical approval of color development requests.
Requirements
- Min 3 years of R&D or technical support experience in a global chemical/material company.
- Experience in direct interaction with customers.
- Outstanding team player.
- Proficiency in oral and written English.
- Capable of being both conceptual/strategic and operational.
- Good business acumen and problem-solving skills.
