About the Role
We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to support high-quality financial closing, reporting, and accounting operations based on JGAAP and IFRS. This role will ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies by accurately and promptly processing closings, performing analysis, and handling accounting technical matters. You will collaborate with offshore Shared Service Centers (SSC) to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and understanding of accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Support quarterly and annual closing processes (JGAAP and IFRS)
- Prepare journal entries
- Analyze balance sheets and income statements
- Identify and proactively resolve accounting issues
- Prepare and analyze financial statements
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of JGAAP and IFRS
- Collaborate with the Reporting team for management and statutory reporting
- Handle accounting technical matters and build accounting models
- Support the development or improvement of accounting models
- Liaise with Group Finance, Regional Finance, Tax teams, and external auditors
- Participate in General Ledger (GL) operations, including ledger clean-up, system improvements, and master data accuracy initiatives
- Drive process efficiency and accuracy improvements
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors
- Provide explanations, documentation, and analysis for audits and inspections
- Review work from MPBS/offshore teams and provide constructive feedback
- Promote best practices, standardization, and knowledge sharing
- Drive engagement and continuous improvement
- Support simplification and automation of accounting and reporting processes in Elevate and Finance Transformation initiatives
- Collaborate with Data Operations and SSC to strengthen new operating models and stabilize IFRS 17 BAU operations
- Support accounting technical aspects of special projects
- Build accounting models
- Evaluate the financial impact of new products under GAAP/IFRS
- Execute project deliverables in collaboration with Product, Actuarial, Distribution, and Regional/Group teams
Requirements
- Skill in analyzing accounting ledgers using accounting software and Excel
- Skill in proposing rational accounting processes through logical thinking
- Skill in managing accounting processes with an understanding of internal controls
- Skill in communicating closely with team members and other departments with an understanding of accounting processes
