About the Role

Contribute to early-stage civil and structural design across rail, highways, energy, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, including operational infrastructure like bridges and stations. Ensure integration and coordination with multiple engineering disciplines for cohesive project solutions. Support inspection, strengthening, and replacement design of operational infrastructure, coordinating closely with stakeholders like Network Rail and TfL.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client liaison and support business development
  • Coordinate project delivery, resources, and design documentation
  • Develop engineering solutions and lead design philosophy
  • Produce preliminary and detailed designs for temporary and permanent works
  • Carry out design checking, technical reporting, and subcontractor coordination
  • Develop erection schemes and specialist engineering methodologies
  • Support Associates and Associate Directors with resource planning, technical delivery, and project coordination
  • Support cost control, fee proposals, and project variations
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to site teams
  • Ensure temporary works are designed, checked, and constructed safely
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Health & Safety and RBG procedures

Requirements

  • Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil & Structural Engineering with a strong interest in structural design
  • Ideally Chartered with the ICE, IStructE or internationally recognised equivalent, or very close to achieving Chartership
  • Flexibility and initiative to respond effectively to challenging situations
  • Ability to take on responsibility appropriate to your level of capability
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes, DMRB and Network Rail design and assessment standards
  • Familiarity with Highways, Network Rail and TfL assurance processes (desirable)
  • Proficiency in 3D structural design software, such as LUSAS, MIDAS, Strand7 or similar tools
