About the Role
The Quality Assurance Technician plays a key role in ensuring Diageo’s products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, food safety and compliance. Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you will perform laboratory testing, monitor manufacturing processes and support continuous improvement to ensure every product meets specification before reaching our customers. This is a hands-on role where you'll help protect product quality, investigate issues, strengthen food safety practices and contribute to operational excellence across our manufacturing site.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory testing and in-process quality checks to verify raw materials, in-process products and finished goods meet Diageo quality standards and specifications.
- Monitor production processes through line audits, process control activities and GMP inspections, ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate quality issues, non-conformances and customer complaints, supporting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with Production, Engineering and Operations teams to resolve quality issues, improve process performance and drive continuous improvement using problem-solving methodologies.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine calibration and ensure accurate completion of quality records, reports and documentation.
- Support food safety programs by verifying cleaning and sanitation effectiveness, monitoring pest control, maintaining SOPs and preparing for internal and external audits.
- Promote a strong quality and food safety culture by coaching operators, supporting training activities and identifying opportunities to improve compliance, consistency and operational performance.
Requirements
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control or Laboratory roles within FMCG, food, beverage, pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, quality systems and laboratory testing techniques, with a strong focus on compliance and product integrity.
- Experience conducting quality inspections, process monitoring, non-conformance investigations and root cause analysis using continuous improvement tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone or DMAIC.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately record, analyse and interpret quality and production data.
- Experience working collaboratively with Production, Engineering and cross-functional teams to solve problems and improve manufacturing performance.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to safety, quality and delivering products that meet the highest consumer and regulatory standards.
