About the Role

The Child Protection Technical Lead provides strategic technical leadership to Myanmar Country Child Protection Programmes, overseeing quality, program design, and identifying strategic partnerships. This role involves representing and advocating for the program with national, regional, and international stakeholders to maximize impact. The position also ensures that program learning, research, and evaluation findings inform advocacy, continuous improvement, innovation, and new program design.

Responsibilities

Lead the development, monitoring, and reporting of Child Protection Strategic Goals within the Country Strategy Plan.
Identify needs and opportunities for Child Protection programs, particularly in response to humanitarian needs, through situation analyses, networking, cluster coordination, and leveraging research.
Facilitate the implementation of a Strategic Learning Agenda for Child Protection in Myanmar for systematic evidence generation and learning.
Collaborate with other teams to develop funding strategies and proposals to expand the Child Protection portfolio.
Identify and pursue opportunities for synergistic, inter-sectoral programs to address holistic child needs.
Ensure the overall quality of Save the Children's Child Protection programming in Myanmar.
Identify capacity-building opportunities and resources to provide high-quality technical assistance to Child Protection projects.
Update and adapt capacity development programs on key approaches (MHPSS, community-led child protection, case management, Children and Armed Conflict) and deliver training, coaching, and supervision.
Integrate program learning across sectors, ensuring coherence of technical approaches, identifying best practices, and ensuring inter-sectoral complementarity.
Develop strategies to ensure gender equity, social and disability inclusion, child participation, and beneficiary accountability in all programs.
Ensure all programs have effective Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) practices and robust data management systems.
Ensure monitoring and accountability systems provide timely information for effective decision-making and risk mitigation.
Develop quality benchmarks for key interventions and new projects, using ongoing analysis for adaptive management.
Provide technical leadership in research aligned with the team's learning agenda.
Share country office experiences and organizational learning globally.
Coordinate with the Advocacy, Research, and Evidence sector on policy and advocacy work related to Child Protection.
Lead policy and advocacy for the sector, ensuring technical interventions inform policy concerns and developing policy briefs.
Identify strategic partnerships for joint advocacy initiatives.
Support professional development and career growth opportunities for Child Protection staff through mentoring.
Establish and nurture effective teamwork within Child Protection teams to ensure a cohesive workplace.
Create opportunities for staff development in coordination with HR.
Maintain managerial environments where the Child Safeguarding Policy is effectively implemented.
Maintain working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Identify partnerships and build networks with NGOs, CSOs, donors, UN agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector.
Support the identification, selection, technical capacity strengthening, and monitoring of new partners in Child Protection.
Ensure effective country office representation and technical leadership within national, regional, and international networks related to Child Protection.
Actively participate in technical coordination meetings to ensure synergies with other agencies.
Maintain excellent relationships with donors, informing other departments of discussion outcomes.
Ensure staff provide beneficiaries with age-appropriate information about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
Promote the message of child safeguarding to colleagues and community members.
Take steps to prevent fraud, bribery, and corruption, and report incidents.
Carry out duties in accordance with SCI Equal Opportunities and Diversity policies.
Ensure staff understand and adhere to the Child Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, and Local/Country Procedures.
Conduct themselves in accordance with the Child Safeguarding Policy in personal and professional lives, including reporting suspicions of child abuse.
Ensure work practices do not put children at risk and scrutinize work through a child safeguarding lens.
Ensure child safeguarding is integrated into all management processes.
Carry out duties in accordance with SCI anti-harassment policy.
Carry out duties in accordance with SCI Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Rights Law, Development Studies or similar, or equivalent field experience).
At least 5 years of working experience in a relevant field, ideally in both development and humanitarian settings.
Hands-on experience in child protection systems strengthening, case management, family strengthening, community-level child protection, MHPSS, and CAAC.
Strong trust-building and respectful listening skills.
Excellent understanding and experience of key issues and strategies in Child Protection.
Proven capacity in program design and reporting.
Excellent skills in process facilitation and coordination/representation at the highest level.
Strong skills in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning in Child Protection, including assessment and research.
Demonstrated experience in humanitarian response.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong analytical capacity and proficient understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Good presentation skills, including policy briefings.
Good supportive supervision skills.
Understanding of the context in Myanmar (or demonstrated willingness to learn the context and culture of Myanmar).
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Rigorous background checks will be conducted as part of the selection process.
