About the Role

The associate director, Market Access & Healthcare Policy (MAHP) in Japan is responsible for monitoring the healthcare system and regulatory environment affecting Alexion's business and advancing Alexion's business priorities in the policy area through building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships with external stakeholders and resources. This role reports to a director of MAHP and collaborates closely with other members in MAHP, other departments in Japan, and global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and assess the implications of healthcare policy/regulations affecting Alexion’s business and inform relevant functions and/or senior managements in a timely manner.
  • Identify policy issues affecting Alexion’s business and develop and implement strategic action plans to overcome them.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external policy stakeholders, such as KOLs, patient advocates, academia, policy specialists, and policy makers.
  • Expand Alexion’s presence in the rare disease space through participation and contribution to industry community activities.
  • Provide opportunities for employees to receive education on the healthcare system and regulations.
  • Respond to and advise on inquiries from inside and outside the company regarding healthcare systems and regulations.
  • Collaborate successfully with key contacts throughout Alexion, including marketing, medical affairs, communications, patient advocacy, R&D, and global counterparts.

Requirements

  • Passionate and responsible for a given task.
  • Have leadership experience as a team or project leader.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to internal and external change.
  • Fluency in Japanese required.
  • Proficiency in English preferred.
  • Scientific and policy knowledge of rare disease space preferred.
  • AI/SaMD knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy in general and experience of communication with government agencies preferred.
  • Experience in a consulting firm to create strategy and solve problems preferred.
