About the Role

As the National Business Manager, Solid Tumours at Johnson & Johnson, you will lead and coach a diverse team of Account Managers focused on in-market and launching oncology treatments. This pivotal leadership role requires expertise in driving high-performing teams and commercial success in a complex, competitive, and matrixed environment. The position is designed for a high-potential people leader aiming for broader leadership roles within the company, focusing on building strategic commercial breadth, strengthening cross-functional influence, developing future talent, and contributing to the oncology and enterprise agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Directly lead, coach, and mentor a national team of 8 experienced Account Managers, building a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, inclusion, trust, and continuous development.
  • Strengthen advanced selling, key account management, therapeutic area, and product knowledge across the team, while identifying and developing future leaders through clear development plans and regular performance conversations.
  • Shape and execute national sales and brand strategies for the J&J Solid Tumours portfolio, translating business priorities into disciplined national, state, and account plans that drive awareness, adoption, and business performance.
  • Lead execution of national plans with strong operating discipline, using market trends, customer insights, lead indicators, and performance data to adjust priorities, unlock growth, and deliver financial results.
  • Proactively assess the solid tumour landscape to identify where Johnson & Johnson should prioritise focus, deepen customer engagement, and build readiness for future portfolio opportunities.
  • Act as a core member of the Solid Tumours cross-functional leadership team, connecting field insights, customer needs, brand priorities, and future portfolio opportunities to inform stronger business planning, budget decisions, and strategic choices beyond the sales function.
  • Facilitate strong cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality state and account plans deliver meaningful value for customers, patients, and Johnson & Johnson.
  • Provide input into business planning, sales strategy, budget, and organisational strategic planning processes, including full ownership of the sales team T&E budget.
  • Take ownership of your own professional development, demonstrating learning agility, curiosity, and the ambition to grow into broader commercial and enterprise leadership opportunities over time.

Requirements

  • Essential experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong track record across sales, marketing, and people management in complex or fast-evolving environments.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams, bringing out the best in people and fostering a culture of coaching, accountability, and performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic planning capability, and achievement drive, with evidence of translating strategy into clear execution plans and delivering business results.
  • Proven ability to lead through change, ambiguity, and transformation, bringing clarity, energy, and discipline to teams while maintaining strong engagement and performance.
  • Successful track record of leading with influence in a matrixed cross-functional environment, building trusted relationships, and communicating effectively across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative, results-oriented approach and the ability to connect customer needs, market dynamics, and business priorities.
  • Demonstrated appetite and potential to grow into broader commercial, cross-functional, or enterprise leadership roles, with evidence of learning agility, strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, and talent development.
  • Willingness to stretch beyond traditional sales leadership by building capability in brand strategy, market development, launch excellence, customer strategy, and cross-functional governance.
  • High integrity and strong work ethic, aligned with Johnson & Johnson's values and commitment to responsible, inclusive, and patient-centred leadership.
  • Candidates must be authorised to work in Australia/New Zealand and not require visa sponsorship at the time of application.
