About the Role
As Senior Manager - Compliance, you will play a key role in supporting and strengthening Pepper Money’s compliance framework across Australia and New Zealand. You will provide trusted advice, drive regulatory change, oversee compliance monitoring, and help embed a strong compliance culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the compliance framework, including the compliance monitoring program.
- Support regulatory change activity and ensure obligations are understood, implemented, and managed within required timeframes.
- Provide trusted compliance advice on privacy, AML/CTF, fraud, design and distribution obligations, NCCP matters, and customer remediation.
- Review customer communications, forms, and marketing materials for regulatory and business compliance.
- Assess incidents and support regulatory reporting, including ASIC reportable situations and eligible data breaches.
- Partner with business units to strengthen controls, manage compliance risk, and support compliant business practices.
- Manage escalated customer resolution matters, including AFCA complaints.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the compliance team, fostering a positive and high-performing environment.
- Champion a strong compliance and risk culture by encouraging ownership, early risk identification, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Significant experience in a compliance role within Australian financial services, ideally with exposure to mortgages, asset finance, or consumer lending.
- Strong knowledge of key regulatory areas including NCCP, AML/CTF, privacy, consumer credit, competition and consumer law, and related Australia and New Zealand obligations.
- Clear and confident communication with senior leaders, business heads, committees, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Credible leadership, supporting team performance and developing others' regulatory and compliance capability.
- Strong analytical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills for assessing compliance risks and business impacts.
- Effective stakeholder influence and provision of practical, solutions-focused advice.
- Collaborative work style, building strong relationships with a focus on quality, accountability, and ethical conduct.
- Additional experience as an AML/CTF, AML/CFT, or Privacy Officer is well-regarded.
