About the Role

Chinatown CDC seeks an experienced fundraising professional to serve as our first Development and Events Manager. This role is crucial as the organization prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027, requiring ambitious development and communications efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a program of annual donor appeals and communications.
  • Work with the communications team to produce compelling content and materials for donors.
  • Manage annual direct mail, email, and online fundraising activities.
  • Manage a portfolio of mid-sized donors and prospects.
  • Design and implement strategies to thank, recognize, and steward supporters.
  • Design and implement strategies to acquire new donors and re-engage lapsed funders.
  • Manage donor data in Salesforce, maintaining accurate records for gift processing, acknowledgement, and donor recognition.
  • Produce fundraising analytics and performance reports for leadership and the board.
  • Ensure compliance with donor intent, data privacy, and fundraising ethics.
  • Orchestrate special events that attract and inspire donors.
  • Manage the annual gala, including venue, budget, vendors, sponsors, and guest list.
  • Help coordinate events during Chinatown CDC’s 50th anniversary campaign.
  • Secure corporate sponsors for events and manage relationships with corporate partners.
  • Arrange tours or volunteer opportunities for corporate partners, donors, and other key partners.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Chinatown CDC’s programs, mission, history, and community impact.
  • Serve as an ambassador and storyteller for Chinatown CDC.
  • Collaborate with team members and colleagues to promote a culture of philanthropy.
  • Provide warm, professional, and timely customer service to donors, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Development and Communications and team members on department-wide initiatives and special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of fundraising or development experience in a nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated success implementing effective and innovative fundraising strategies.
  • Collaborative team player eager to learn and build strong relationships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience writing content for donors.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Highly skilled with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with donor management databases, such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge.
  • Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered for employment in accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
