About the Role

The Ravines, Trails, Wayfinding & Special Projects (RTWS) Unit is seeking Project Managers to deliver capital planning, feasibility assessments, design, and construction of projects that improve how people move through and experience natural parkland areas in the City of Toronto. Projects will support citywide initiatives such as the Ravine Strategy and Waterfront Revitalization.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex capital projects from concept to completion including feasibility assessments, capital planning, design, procurement, and construction of trails, stairs, bridges, erosion control, and shoreline structures in natural areas.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams of city and agency staff, consultants, and contractors to deliver projects that improve natural area experiences and address natural hazards, state of good repair, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Lead multi-faceted engagement processes with city divisions, agencies, regulators, landowners, elected officials, interest groups, NGOs, community groups, and the public.
• Support the development of the annual budget and 10-year capital plan.
• Carry out project, contract, and financial administration to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Prepare briefing notes, presentations, and reports for diverse audiences.
• Ensure initiatives are delivered in compliance with corporate and legislative requirements.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Relevant professional licenses and PMP certification are considered assets.
• Extensive experience delivering concurrent high-value, complex projects from inception to completion.
• Considerable experience in capital planning and delivery of feasibility assessments, design, and construction of public projects in natural areas.
• Considerable experience in municipal procurement and management of professional and construction services.
• Significant experience delivering projects requiring multi-faceted engagement processes.
• Considerable experience coordinating and obtaining relevant permits and approvals from various authorities.
• Superior analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant acts and regulations including the Ontario Building Code, Conservation Authorities Act, and Environmental Protection Act.
• Ability to travel to various City of Toronto sites.
