About the Role

St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School seeks substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence and follows the plans and guidance provided by the classroom teacher. This position reports to the principal.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
• Follow instruction set by classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
• Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• No experience required.
• A substitute teacher who will have responsibility for a class for 50% or more of the grading period should have the same qualifications required for the regular teacher.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
• Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
• All employees must adhere to the Catholic Schools Standards of Conduct, the Diocese of Austin EIM policies, and the social, ethical, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church as interpreted by the Bishop of Austin.
• Texas is an “at-will” employment state.
• Letters of employment are not contracts, nor do they bind the employer or the employee to a predetermined time or guarantee of employment.
