About the Role

The Risk & Compliance Manager role undertakes and coordinates risk and compliance activities to strengthen risk maturity, support regulatory obligations and ensure risk considerations are integrated into business operations, decision-making and change initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Risk and Compliance Partner in maturing Line 1 risk and compliance capabilities and practices across the division.
  • Lead and coordinate risk identification, assessment, and profiling activities across Listings and Participants Supervision (including Bowtie analysis and scenario assessment).
  • Coordinate control design, mapping, and testing activities to assess the effectiveness of the control environment.
  • Drive remediation of control gaps, including development of actionable, testable improvements to strengthen the control environment.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of risk issues and remediation actions, ensuring clear root cause identification, robust action design and validated closure.
  • Lead the identification, allocation, and embedment of regulatory obligations across ASX Supervision, ensuring clear ownership, effective control linkage, and demonstrable compliance through monitoring and reporting.
  • Engage across multiple divisions (e.g. Markets, Clearing & Settlement, Technology) to ensure alignment on supervisory risk and control responsibilities.
  • Support delivery of the Risk Transformation Program (RTP) and broader risk maturity uplift initiatives across ASX.
  • Ensure risk considerations are integrated into key operational decisions, supervisory processes, and change initiatives.

Requirements

  • Gained 7+ years experience working within a Line 1 risk function.
  • Experience performing risk and compliance assessments, control testing & uplift, and incident & issue management.
  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks and experience operating within regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, writing and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple pieces of work concurrently across various interrelated initiatives and workstreams.
  • Proven ability to build strong internal relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Well‑developed planning and prioritisation skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes to agreed deadlines.
  • Strong operational process knowledge and experience within an exchange and/or trading environment.
  • Previously worked at an exchange, financial markets, financial services institution.
  • Experience co-ordinating and implementing organisational risk and compliance transformation programs.
  • Firsthand experience managing business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks, including practical application and testing.
  • Understanding of key markets obligations e.g. Market Integrity Rules, Financial Stability Standards.
  • Candidates must be legally authorised to work in Australia on a permanent basis without any restrictions.
