About the Role
The Event Director will lead the strategy, growth, production, and execution of Groceryshop, the premier event for grocery and CPG innovation. This high-impact leadership role involves full responsibility for commercial performance, customer experience, and long-term growth strategy, overseeing all aspects including revenue, content, operations, and product development.
Responsibilities
- Own the overall vision, strategy, and delivery of the event.
- Develop annual growth plans aligned with revenue, attendance, and profitability objectives.
- Lead cross-functional planning and execution across Sales, Marketing, Content, and Operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in customer experience.
- Serve as the internal champion and external ambassador for the brand.
- Own event revenue and profitability targets.
- Partner with Sales leadership to maximize sponsorship, exhibition, and delegate revenue.
- Review sales pipelines, forecasts, and inventory utilization.
- Support the sale of high-value sponsorship opportunities.
- Develop new revenue streams, products, and commercial partnerships.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity.
- Evolve the event proposition to maintain industry leadership.
- Develop new content formats, networking experiences, and hosted programs.
- Utilize customer feedback and market research to inform product decisions.
- Partner with the hosted retailer team to recruit and retain senior executives.
- Build relationships with grocery retailers, wholesalers, and commerce businesses.
- Expand strategic retailer participation internationally.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry associations and media partners.
- Represent the brand at industry events.
- Own the event P&L, including budget development and revenue forecasting.
- Monitor costs, margins, and resource allocation.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Coach and develop team members.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading large-scale events, commercial businesses, or strategic initiatives in high-growth B2B organizations.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success owning significant revenue and profit targets.
- Strong financial planning, forecasting, and budget management experience.
- Ability to work from the Midtown Manhattan office three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday).
