About the Role
Ericsson is seeking an experienced Support Engineer to join a CCxx/UDM support team within MOAI NEO, focusing on 5G Core and Cloud Core solutions for NACI customers. This role involves supporting complex L2/L3 incidents, enhancing live network stability, and collaborating with various teams to minimize outages and ensure safe introduction of new CCxx releases. The position directly supports Ericsson's mission of delivering reliable, high-performing 5G Cloud Core solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead L2/L3 investigations and drive resolution of complex customer issues across 5G UDM and CCxx Cloud Core applications.
- Own critical incident response, fault isolation, and service restoration activities in carrier-grade, customer-facing environments.
- Analyze system behavior, logs, network flows, and distributed platform performance to identify root causes and prevent repeat faults.
- Partner with product, projects, service delivery, and problem management teams to improve service stability and safely introduce new CCxx releases.
- Communicate confidently with customers and internal stakeholders, providing clear updates, technical guidance, and resolution plans during high-priority incidents.
- Drive operational efficiencies through automation, knowledge sharing, documentation, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Clear understanding of the overall UDC/UDM solution, including CUDB/UDR, HLR-FE, HSS-FE, EIR-FE, CCRC, CCSM, and CCDM interdependencies.
- Knowledge of subscriber data models in CUDB, including keys, indexes, replication, and subscription change flow.
- Strong Diameter skills, including S6a/S6d, Cx, Sh, Gr, SLh, and Ud-type interfaces.
- Awareness of 5G UDM interfaces such as Nudm, enabling trace reading and error mapping.
- Understanding of FE behavior (HLR-FE / HSS-FE / EIR-FE) in various scenarios like attach, RAU/LAU, EPS attach, IMS registration, authentication, subscription download/update, barring/roaming, and EIR IMEI checks.
- Familiarity with CCSM concepts, including NFs, pods, instances, scaling, Day-0/Day-1 parameters, and Diameter endpoints.
- Proficiency in Linux and basic Kubernetes/container troubleshooting, including logs, pods, CPU/RAM/disk analysis.
- Understanding of CCDM order flows, typical failures, bulk operations, migrations, and ability to perform subscriber-data corrections.
- Solid incident, change, and problem management capability, including strong case notes, clear RCAs, and impact analysis.
- Ability to work across IMS, EPC/5GC, RAN, and BSS/Charging teams.
- Understanding of the role of CCRC with NRF, NSSF, DNS, and SBI/HTTP2 in 5G Core.
- Strong Linux skills.
- OpenStack basics.
- Kubernetes/containers and YAML-based configuration.
- Knowledge of NRF/DNS/NSSF behavior, including geo-redundancy, database sync/resync, and system expansion/reduction.
- Experience with install, upgrade, and expansion activities.
- Experience reading Kubernetes and NF logs.
