About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own subassemblies from initial design to validated hardware. This is a hands-on role involving the full build-test loop, allowing for significant ownership and rapid growth. The subassemblies designed will be integrated into machines that scale AI infrastructure globally.

Responsibilities

  • Own a subassembly and its parts through design, hand calculations, FEA, fabrication, assembly, and validation.
  • Own supporting analysis, including hand calculations, tolerance stack-ups, fastener and material selection, and basic FEA.
  • Build, assemble, and test parts on test fixtures and on the robot.
  • Rapidly iterate on designs, incorporating feedback from failed tests into revised parts within the same week.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of mechanical design experience (exceptional new graduates with strong project or internship experience will be considered).
  • Solid understanding of statics, materials, tolerance analysis, fasteners, and basic FEA.
  • Experience building physical objects, such as through student teams, shipped products, or functional prototypes.
  • Hands-on machining experience, with the ability to fabricate parts using company equipment.
  • Ability to work on-site in San Francisco 5 days per week, with potential for 6 days per week during peak periods.
  • Experience in a hardware, robotics, aerospace, or automotive company.
  • CAM experience (e.g., Fusion 360) or proficiency in programming toolpaths.
  • Comfort using AI tools to enhance productivity.
