About the Role
This role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and preparing key financial deliverables, including the Annual Budget, Revenue Pricing Policy, and Long-Term Financial Plan. The position supports the management accounting team in providing financial insights and supporting budget managers.
Responsibilities
- Provide input and support preparation of Council’s annual budgets, including setting of fees and charges
- Assist in developing the Long-Term Financial Plan
- Collaborate with budget managers to assist and support them to conduct quarterly budget reviews
- Undertake monthly analysis of employee costs, contract labour and calculation of salary savings
- Review, develop and implement financial systems, processes, financial models and reports
- Allocate budget packs, create projects and prepare and update budget and forecast models
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Commerce
- Extensive experience in budgeting and financial management in a medium to large organisation
- Demonstrated analytical ability to deal with high volume and complex financial information
- Demonstrated experience using large financial information systems
- Ability to proactively engage and foster business partnering relationship with key internal stakeholders
- Effectively communicate and influence decision making at all levels of management
- Experience in local government finance, Long-Term Financial Planning, grant funding, and knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act and Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework will be an advantage
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Successful candidates will be required to obtain a National Police Check
- May be required to undergo a pre-employment medical check
