About the Role

In collaboration with patients, families, and staff, this role is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing clinical support staff in a community healthcare center.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned staff, including establishing work assignments and priorities.
  • Review and adjust timecards and time off requests.
  • Provide input for performance evaluations and monitor new hire orientation.
  • Coach and counsel staff in conjunction with NMO, PL, and HR.
  • Perform Nurse Manager-Operation (NMO) duties in the absence of the NMO.
  • Participate in Process Improvement strategies.
  • Coach and mentor Staff Development of Charge Nurse I and clinical staff.
  • Support and guide Charge Nurses through administrative and organizational growth.
  • Oversee unit flow, staffing, and patient scheduling.
  • Assess the physical, social, and emotional needs of patients and families.
  • Teach and counsel patients and families on health assessment, care, disease prevention, hygiene, and health maintenance.
  • Identify patient needs for referral to resources to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Provide direct nursing care and distribute medications and treatments.
  • Complete direct and indirect care documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure patient records are current and complete.
  • Ensure daily patient care huddles and weekly clinic staff informational huddles occur.
  • Disseminate information from charge nurse meetings, patient conferences, or planning sessions.
  • Maintain all licensure and certification requirements for continuing education.
  • Participate in quality strategies to evaluate compliance with evidence-based guidelines and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure all patient care duties comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Act as the site lead in the absence of the Nurse Manager Operations and/or Practice Leader.
  • Complete daily/weekly quality assurance checklists.
  • Delegate tasks as appropriate to staff.
  • Ensure state vaccine policies are followed and delegate vaccine counts.
  • Attend all clinic codes.
  • Perform patient triage as needed.
  • Perform periodic chart audits.
  • De-escalate crisis situations by seeking guidance from supportive personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate success in providing clinical care and nursing support within an organization of comparable pace and complexity.
  • Experience managing difficult patient/customer situations.
  • Demonstrate success in directing staff to achieve a common goal.
  • Significant knowledge of medical practices and procedures in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrate success and experience with direct patient services and the proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.
  • Develop communication processes to support quality of care and patient experience.
  • Ability to develop and manage professional relationships in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Capability to collaborate with providers and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships and partnerships with team members.
  • Interact respectfully and collaboratively with patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with all members of the care team in providing patient-centered care.
