About the Role
As an Industrial Designer on the Concept Lab team, you will support enterprise-wide teams by developing ideas into visual assets and aiding in the design and development of products or physical environments. You will translate concepts into designs through hand sketches/CAD, digital illustrations, graphic art, layouts, mock-ups, prototyping, and presentation building, working closely with leadership, trend teams, design, engineering, and technical design teams to communicate design details. You will manage project planning, execution of deliverables, maintain a diligent and self-directed approach to workload, and provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external partners. Project management may include directing contractors, partners across the enterprise, and external vendors to complete projects.
Responsibilities
- Create visual assets (branding, illustrations, digital mock-ups, layouts or presentations) used to communicate with other team members, leaders, vendors or consumers
- Bring words to life through immersive experiences
- Translate concepts into designs for technical teams and engineers to develop
- Learn about multiple systems across development, sourcing, buying and inspection
- Manage project planning and execution of deliverables
- Maintain a diligent and self-directed approach to workload
- Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external partners
- Direct contractors, partners across the enterprise, and external vendors to complete projects
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Industrial Design, or similar area of study, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of product and experience design, and leading design work
- Strong end-to-end design process including: research (product, trend, and user, mood boards, design direction) concept development (sketching, rendering, and technical specifications, mockups and prototypes), and incorporating feedback to refine and improve concepts
- Advanced proficiency in design software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and 3D modeling/rendering tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Blender, 3ds Max)
- Experience with 3D printing is a plus
- Proficient to strong in Generative AI and emerging design technologies
- Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Excel) & Digital White-boarding Tools (Miro)
- Hands-on experience using hand/power tools to build prototypes, fabricate concepts or install exhibit features
- Excellent visual communication, presentation building and storytelling skills (infographic and presentation design to effectively communicate ideas and concepts to a variety of audiences)
- Experience developing and executing brand-focused design solutions within established brand guidelines and creating new visual/form languages
- Critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and urgency
- Strong project management and collaboration including experience in client engagement, partnership-building skills, aligning stakeholders, contributing in cross-functional team environments, and bringing partners along
- Ability to create structures to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple projects simultaneously
