About the Role

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and driven educators to join their team as Intermediate Generalist Tutors. This role involves supporting students in Grades 4-10 across North Toronto and Downtown Toronto with personalized, engaging instruction. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded educator comfortable teaching multiple subjects and passionate about student success.

Responsibilities

• Empower students with personalized academic support aligned with the Ontario curriculum for Grades 4–10.
• Tutor students across core subject areas, including Math, English, Science, Social Studies, French (where applicable), and study/organization skills.
• Develop customized learning plans that address each student's unique strengths, challenges, and academic goals.
• Help students strengthen foundational skills, improve confidence, and develop effective learning strategies.
• Provide remedial support for students who need extra help and enrichment opportunities for those seeking additional challenges.
• Prepare students for classroom assessments, projects, assignments, and tests.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and areas for improvement.

Requirements

• Experience tutoring or teaching intermediate-aged students.
• Comfortable providing in-home, in-person instruction.
• Familiarity with the Ontario curriculum across core subject areas is essential.
• Hold current, valid registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
• Are a certified teacher in Canada or the United States (or are in the process of becoming one).
• Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program.
• Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited Canadian or U.S. college or university.
• Experience teaching or tutoring students in Grades 4–10.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario curriculum across multiple subject areas.
• Ability to confidently teach several core subjects rather than specializing in just one.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to students' homes in North Toronto and Downtown Toronto.
• A passion for helping students build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and become independent learners.
