About the Role
Prep Academy Tutors is seeking passionate educators to provide in-home and online tutoring for high school students. The role focuses on helping students build confidence, strengthen English and writing skills, and achieve academic success.
Responsibilities
- Empower students with personalized academic support aligned with the Ontario secondary English curriculum.
- Help students strengthen reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
- Prepare students for classroom assessments, culminating assignments, and exams, including OSSLT preparation.
- Develop customized lesson plans that promote deep understanding, confidence, and academic growth.
- Provide remedial support for struggling students and enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Experience tutoring or teaching high school English.
- Comfortable providing in-home, in-person instruction.
- Familiarity with the Ontario secondary English curriculum (Grades 9–12) is essential.
- Hold current, valid registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
- Are a certified teacher in Canada or the United States (or are in the process of becoming one).
- Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program.
- Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited Canadian or U.S. college or university.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to students' homes in North Toronto and Downtown Toronto.
