About the Role
As an Embalmer—Funeral Director, you'll play an essential role in providing sensitive care to the families and communities we serve. Your primary focus will be embalming and preparation room operations within our centralized preparation model, but you'll also support funeral services, meet with families, assist with removals, and contribute to the overall success of our funeral homes as business needs require. This role is ideal for a licensed professional who combines technical expertise with empathy, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit. Evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call responsibilities may be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform embalming, restorative art, dressing, cosmetology, and preparation of decedents
- Ensure proper identification, care, and tracking throughout the preparation process
- Maintain preparation room cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
- Manage embalming and preparation room inventory
- Meet with families to support funeral planning and service arrangements, as needed
- Coordinate and direct funeral, memorial, visitation, cremation, and graveside services
- Complete permits, authorizations, death certificates, and required documentation
- Participate in removals and transfers with professionalism and dignity
- Support multiple funeral home locations within the market
- Work closely with funeral directors, leadership, and support staff
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed
- Mentor and support newer team members when appropriate
Requirements
- Active Funeral Director and/or Embalmer license
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Strong embalming and restorative art skills
- Knowledge of OSHA and funeral service regulations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Current & active state licensure is required
- Evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call responsibilities may be required
