About the Role
As a Field Application Engineer, you will manage the deployment, maintenance, and support of robotic systems throughout their lifecycle. This hands-on role bridges the gap between customers and the product, involving both on-site customer support and in-house technical operations.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, test, and troubleshoot robotic systems at customer sites.
- Train customers on robot operation, maintenance, software workflows, and best practices.
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to diagnose hardware, software, and operational issues.
- Travel domestically and internationally to support deployments, training, and customer success.
- Prepare, inspect, calibrate, and validate robots before shipment and deployment.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and quality checks on the internal robot fleet.
- Assemble, repair, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical components.
- Support engineering with product testing, validation, prototype evaluation, and new feature verification.
- Maintain spare parts inventory, repair records, and service documentation.
- Document customer issues and field learnings to improve internal knowledge and training materials.
- Communicate product improvement opportunities to Engineering and Product teams.
- Improve deployment processes, service procedures, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in robotics, field applications, technical support, hardware support, autonomous systems, drones, or mechatronics.
- Experience working directly with customers in technical support, deployment, or field service.
- Hands-on experience with robotics, electronics, wiring, sensors, batteries, motors, and mechanical assemblies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, electrical, mechanical, and basic software.
- Experience assembling, repairing, maintaining, or testing complex technical equipment.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, firmware updates, software logs, or basic debugging.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing equipment and documentation.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Valid driver’s license.
