About the Role

Amperesand is seeking a Validation Engineer to own the validation of power electronics, thermal systems, and firmware. You will build test systems, develop strategies, and ensure hardware and firmware function flawlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain test systems for high-voltage power electronics.
  • Validate electrical, thermal, and performance characteristics of products across prototype, pre-production, and production stages.
  • Conduct comprehensive regression testing to ensure new iterations meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Define a manufacturing test specification for volume production.
  • Innovate test system design to meet accuracy, cycle time, cost, and other performance factors.
  • Collaborate with hardware design and firmware teams to understand the product and its functionalities.
  • Investigate root causes of failures and drive product improvements.
  • Participate hands-on during test hardware bring-up, system debugging, and assist with software optimization.
  • Incorporate design techniques to achieve ease of validation and maintenance.
  • Challenge ideas and decisions with reasoning from first principles.
  • Travel to different facilities worldwide to collaborate with teams and deploy solutions.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in test engineering, preferably in power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics principles, including high-voltage, high-current systems, and power conversion technologies.
  • Solid experience with PCBA schematics and debugging hardware components.
  • Familiarity with using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and other test equipment.
  • Experience using system-level languages (such as Golang, Rust, C, C++, etc.) to automate systems.
  • Engaged, proactive, and positive when taking on challenging tasks, owning assignments, and taking accountability for personal and overall team success.

  • $130,000-$155,000/annual + equity
