About the Role
The Housekeeping Inspector reports to the Housekeeping Manager and performs managerial functions. This role ensures guest rooms, corridors, and public areas meet the hotel’s cleanliness, safety, and quality standards by inspecting rooms, supervising room attendants, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Serve as team lead for the housekeeping staff, including assigning and reviewing work.
- Maintain high-quality cleaning standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service and lead staff to do the same.
- Respond to customer complaints quickly and resolve them effectively.
- Communicate and coordinate with Engineering for efficient maintenance and repair of guest rooms and public areas.
- Manage a physically active role.
- Supervise subordinate staff, including assignment of duties, service evaluation, and disciplinary action.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear directions to staff.
- Observe performance and encourage improvement.
- Perform guest room cleaning duties during staff shortages.
Requirements
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments.
- Motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively towards goals.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data.
- Communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues.
- Listen and respond appropriately to department concerns.
- Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the department is preferred.
- Proven track record of effectively and empathetically training, mentoring, and managing hourly employees.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours.
- Employees may be required to work varying schedules, including holidays and weekends, to reflect business needs.
