About the Role

The Guardianship Division is NCAT's protective jurisdiction, promoting the rights of people with decision-making disabilities. Working for the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) offers opportunities to make a real difference by collaborating with agencies and partners to improve lives and realize potential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in understanding the Tribunal process, encouraging participation from individuals with disabilities.
  • Provide information to clients through face-to-face interactions, phone calls, or written communication.
  • List and prepare matters for hearing, write hearing reports for the Tribunal, and prepare/send documents to clients.
  • Contact clients to ascertain their participation methods for Tribunal hearings.
  • Comply with relevant Tribunal procedures and legislation.

Requirements

  • Motivated with initiative and strong customer service skills.
  • Interest in supporting people with disability.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a high-volume environment with set timeframes.
  • Ability to manage individual workload independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy.
  • Willingness to develop skills and knowledge of legislation, legal principles, and procedures.
