About the Role

As a new Senior Engineer on the LogScale Search team, you will be responsible for delivering scale to customers by developing new features and improving existing functionality for a system that ingests over 100 PB of event and action data daily, with up to 10 years of retention and millions of queries per hour. You will work on hard engineering problems within a distributed, collaborative team, becoming an expert in the LogScale architecture and owning a part of the LogScale experience from ideation to deployment and feedback.

Responsibilities

Work in a team of friendly, trustworthy and knowledgeable colleagues supporting each other through code reviews, pairing, documentation, design reviews and technical guidance
Lead by example on customer and product focus, as well as on hands-on operational excellence by monitoring and following up on features released to customers and troubleshooting critical customer issues
Deliver cross-team platform-level initiatives and projects by owning or participating in scoping, designing and developing of new features to open-ended problems
Develop the LogScale backend in Scala and extending our product to keep LogScale scale with increasing ingest and query load while ensuring high availability
Collaborate with your peers across teams on defining and delivering new solutions, design documents, technical talks and improving our internal documentation
Ensure high quality of the features they deliver, by writing automated tests, and performing manual tests
Constantly observe and monitor new features in production, with LogScale dashboards
Make sure that LogScale continues to be scalable in terms of efficiently ingesting and digesting events, querying for the right data, while also ensuring the stability of the clusters

Requirements

A passion for or personal interest in distributed systems and curiosity of how our running systems are doing
Experience in software development in general and the ability to juggle making pragmatic tradeoffs between short-time delivery needs vs long-term product goals
Experience in contributing to broad technical leadership in products or services
Fluency in both functional and object oriented programming and the ability to pick up new languages on the go
A can-do attitude, and that you thrive collaborating in a team and are not afraid of taking on responsibilities
Demonstrated track record of operational excellence when operating services that span many components across several geographical regions
Ability to communicate and articulate technical concepts crisply to individual contributors and management
Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes
Periodically undergo and pass additional background and fingerprint check(s) consistent with government customer requirements
