About the Role

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting for Raising The Village’s Canadian operations, safeguarding the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of its financial records and reporting. This role requires hands-on maintenance of financial records, driving month-end and year-end close processes, preparing reconciliations and financial reports, ensuring compliance, and supporting audits and process improvements. The Senior Accountant provides timely, reliable financial information to strengthen financial operations and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of RTV’s Canadian financial transactions, including accounts payable, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation for payments on a weekly basis.
  • Update and maintain RTV’s finance systems with accurate and timely financial data.
  • Ensure proper filing, maintenance, and accessibility of financial records and supporting documentation for audit and reference purposes.
  • Own assigned areas of the month-end and year-end close for Canadian operations, including reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules, delivered to agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and related management reporting.
  • Prepare tax, regulatory, and statutory filings applicable to Canadian operations.
  • Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, risks, and opportunities for improved financial controls and decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to RTV financial policies and procedures.
  • Report any suspected non-compliance or financial irregularities to Finance Leadership.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support internal and external audit processes as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations.
  • Experience with Sage or a comparable ERP.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance staff.
