About the Role
To support the Service Manager in managing the service and building, providing guidance, supervision, and support to staff. The role focuses on delivering a recovery-focused service for individuals with complex needs, utilizing personalization to improve engagement and outcomes. This position also involves deputizing for the Service Manager in their absence, shift work, cleaning duties, and supporting daily living activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support staff in creating and reviewing risk assessments, management plans, personalized recovery support plans, and move-in plans.
- Lead and support staff in assessing new service users, liaising with professionals, and preparing management plans for admissions.
- Support individuals in achieving goals through key work, recovery interventions, and person-centered planning.
- Organize weekly key worker sessions focusing on mental health insight, medication management, symptom management, and advance directives.
- Plan, organize, and lead groups on topics such as mental health management, living skills, nutrition, and stress management.
- Organize a rota of activities and events for service users.
- Broker and provide specialized interventions like DBT and CBT, including input from substance abuse and forensic services.
- Support service users in preparing for independence by helping them develop skills, including IT and online applications.
- Identify and facilitate suitable move-on accommodation and support, engaging family and carers.
- Provide advice on benefits and tenancy rights, or signpost when necessary.
- Facilitate access to training or employment and support employers.
- Make a positive contribution to the team and develop personal abilities to enhance team performance.
- Carry out staff supervisions and monitor team member performance.
- Contribute to the provision of outcome-defined evidence to commissioners and stakeholders.
- Promote, monitor, and maintain health and safety, security, and building safety.
- Ensure service delivery complies with relevant legislation, organizational values, policies, and contractual requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified to at least Diploma Level 3 in Adult Care / Health & Social Care.
- Commitment to the empowerment of service users and a strong interest in user involvement and promoting people's rights.
- Ability to respond promptly, flexibly, consistently, and appropriately to service users’ needs, including those in crisis.
- Ability to provide clear direction to the team.
- Ability to work with service users in a user-led, calm, confident, and sensitive manner.
- Ability to advocate for service users.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people experiencing mental distress, including those who may be acutely ill.
- Knowledge and practical experience of using person-centered tools to support recovery and development.
- Ability to transfer knowledge and associated skills.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and contribute to meeting team and organizational objectives.
- Experience of supervising people and teams and monitoring performance.
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and make autonomous decisions.
- Experience of participating in and running meetings/groups.
- Ability to liaise and communicate well, orally and in writing, with health professionals, the general public, and other providers.
- Ability to be assertive when necessary.

- Willingness to attain the Diploma Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Adult Care (desirable).
- Experience of running groups (desirable).
- At least one year experience of supervising and managing others (desirable).
