About the Role
Our legal team is seeking an experienced Paralegal Manager with transactional experience in commercial real estate. This player-coach role involves handling transaction tasks across all deal phases while leading, training, and mentoring a team of paralegals. Deal work includes projects financed with LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds, HUD loans, and other state and local subsidies. Responsibilities also include entity formation, document preparation, title and survey review, due diligence, and managing the closing process.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of paralegals, providing guidance, reviewing work, establishing accountability, and supporting professional growth.
- Independently manage transaction tasks while overseeing and elevating the work of the paralegal team.
- Support deal assignment across the team, balancing workloads, deadlines, complexity, and skills.
- Exercise sound judgment and promptly escalate transactional, workload, or team issues.
- Design, manage, and improve team workflows and processes for efficient deal progression.
- Train and onboard paralegals, establishing best practices and quality standards.
- Prepare and revise entity formation and governance documents.
- Review title, survey, and title commitments and coordinate responses to comments.
- Perform due diligence, coordinate transactions, and work with the team to close affordable housing transactions.
- Order due diligence certificates, searches, and other materials from vendors.
- Finalize title policies for transactions with title companies.
- Use project management tools for work plans, budgeting, and tracking.
- Track transaction tasks and phases, communicating progress and issues to stakeholders.
- Prepare signature page packets and coordinate signatures.
- Prepare closing indices and binders and follow up on post-closing matters.
- Conduct research and gather information using general and legal research tools.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements

- Sound judgment to prioritize and assign work, balance competing deadlines, and proactively identify and escalate issues.
- Commercial real estate experience and corporate etiquette.
- Ability to work and operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional document drafting and proofreading skills.

- Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 7 years of commercial real estate and/or corporate paralegal experience in a corporate environment.
- Prior experience managing, supervising, training, or mentoring paralegals or other legal support staff.
- Proven experience independently managing commercial real estate transactions.
- Experience with affordable housing transactions, particularly Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) deals is strongly preferred.
