About the Role
Counselors provide support and assistance to clients in a long-term adult psychiatric residential treatment program, advocating for their treatment and rehabilitation needs under the supervision of the Program Director or Assistant Director.
Responsibilities
- Promote the philosophy of social rehabilitation in residential treatment
- Perform intake interviews
- Conduct group, individual, and family counseling
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Coordinate activities
- Manage discharge planning
- Maintain contact with clients' therapists and treatment programs
- Maintain computer records for City and County of San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services
- Maintain clinical records
- Perform minor household repair and cleaning tasks
Requirements
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and overnight shifts
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated maturity, good judgment, and emotional stability
- Ability to negotiate several flights of stairs
- Ability to lift and carry 20 lb. packages multiple times per shift
- Must submit to a fingerprint check and health screening exam
- Must obtain clearance from the State Dept. of Social Services, Community Care Licensing
- Verification of previous employment and education
