About the Role
Own the product direction for one of the largest sports sites on the internet, CBSSports.com, which serves as the front door for tens of millions of fans. This role is responsible for the product strategy of the full web experience, leading a small PM team and collaborating with design and engineering leads. It's a player-coach role requiring both strategic direction and detailed involvement.
Responsibilities
- Set product strategy for CBSSports.com and translate it into clear priorities for teams.
- Own the web plan, including deciding what to build, sequencing work, balancing risk, tracking outcomes, and making decisions on what to continue, change, or stop.
- Treat web as the reach and discovery engine for CBS Sports, growing organic and direct traffic, sharpening high-intent surfaces, and converting anonymous visitors into registered users.
- Own the role web plays in the broader portfolio, growing registered users and converting web audiences into sticky products like the CBS Sports App.
- Prototype to remove ambiguity, test ideas with fans, and learn before committing.
- Coach and develop 1 to 2 PMs through structured feedback, calibration, and growth planning.
- Partner with design and engineering directors on cross-squad alignment, delivery cadence, and process evolution.
- Partner with editorial to integrate storytelling and product.
- Represent product to executive leadership, translating fan behavior, competitive dynamics, and product performance into a clear narrative.
Requirements
- 10+ years in product management with significant leadership experience.
- Experience with consumer web at scale, ideally high-traffic and real-time.
- Proven track record of owning strategy, shipping products, and developing other PMs.
- Strong prioritization instincts, capable of managing site-level strategy and problem-level detail.
- Fluency with key web levers: discovery and SEO, performance, identity and authentication, and conversion.
- Comfort prototyping in code with AI tools like Claude or Cursor.
- Fluency with product analytics, experimentation, and outcome accountability.
- An AI-native working style, utilizing LLMs for problem-solving and work acceleration.
- A point of view on how AI changes product team capabilities.
