About the Role
The Cook is responsible for food preparation in accordance with prescribed recipes and adherence to safe food handling techniques and practices. Focus on the department objective of - Consistency, Quality and Sense of Urgency.
Responsibilities
- Be punctual to pre-shift meetings with a positive attitude and participate openly.
- Consistently provide Old-World Hospitality and deliver Excitement, while living the company core values.
- Comply with department standards, guidelines, and objectives, including Food Service and Sanitation, OSHA, and Hazcom standards.
- Pass Food Service Sanitation course and rigorously practice safe food handling.
- Practice 'clean as you go', clean spills immediately, and practice safe knife handling.
- Complete daily checklists for position and adhere to kitchen setup roadmaps.
- Strictly adhere to all standardized recipes and maintain the quality and consistency of food product.
- Use a digital thermometer to verify food temperatures.
- Label and date all food items not stored in their original containers.
- Adhere to the 5S Principles: Sorted, Set in Order, Systematically Cleaned, Standardized, and Sustained.
- Update Daily Management Systems board with daily lineup, order guides, prep lists, line checks, and perpetual inventories.
- Behave in a gracious, kind, and warm manner, reflecting positively on the company and its core values.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions.
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Ability to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, weekend hours, and overtime.
- Ability to wear plastic or latex gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods.
- Ability to work in a kitchen setting with varying temperatures.
- Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance in varying work areas, including confined spaces.
- Attend required training sessions.
- Obtain required license(s).
- Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Knowledge of ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the department.
- Knowledge of the property’s programs to address problem gambling.
- Consult with appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report them to management.
- Report any acts of wrongdoing by any Team Member.
