About the Role

This role will assist in the firm’s conflicts clearance process and restricted and watch lists, playing a significant role in the implementation and oversight of the firm’s information walls. The candidate will identify and address or escalate a wide variety of issues, adapt to system upgrades, and work on compliance initiatives like market soundings policy and trade surveillance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential transactions to determine names for the firm’s restricted or watch lists.
  • Communicate with legal, compliance, and deal teams regarding list additions/removals (e.g., MNPI/inside information assessment).
  • Identify potential transactional conflicts and escalate them to appropriate contacts.
  • Analyze firm touchpoints with companies to identify potential conflicts of interest.
  • Formulate recommendations for addressing potential conflicts of interest.
  • Document analysis for clearing conflicts.
  • Obtain deal updates from investment teams.
  • Evaluate and manage wall-crossing requests.
  • Review trade pre-clearances from public side businesses.
  • Assist with personal trading pre-clearances as needed.
  • Enhance systems for documenting conflicts checks and the restricted list/watch list.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of work experience at a major financial services firm in the control room and/or conflicts management group, or relevant legal and compliance experience.
  • Strong analytical and issue-spotting skills.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
  • Substantial initiative, creativity, and drive.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Consideration for applicants with arrest and conviction records, consistent with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
