About the Role

The US Oncology Network is seeking an Insurance Specialist to support the Oncology Department at Texas Oncology in Austin, Texas. This full-time role involves managing delinquent accounts, resolving billing errors, and assisting patients with payment and insurance inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Monitor delinquent accounts and perform collection duties.
• Review reports, research, and resolve issues.
• Review payment postings for accuracy and ensure account balances are current.
• Collaborate with coworkers to resolve insurance payment and billing errors.
• Monitor and update delinquent account statuses.
• Recommend accounts for collection or write-off.
• Contact patients to secure past due balances, verify demographics and insurance, update systems, and document conversations.
• Answer patient payment, billing, and insurance questions and resolve complaints.
• Refer patients to Patient Benefits Representative for payment plans.
• Maintain credit balances of patients and payors, ensuring timely refunds within government guidelines.
• Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two (2) years combined medical billing and payment experience required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing.
• Demonstrate knowledge of state & federal collections guidelines.
• Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying the position.
• Minimum four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience required (Level 2).
• Demonstrate knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology coding (Level 2).
• Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferred (Level Sr).
• Minimum two (2) years insurance resolution experience resolving issues with patients and payers (Level Sr).
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required (Level Sr).
• Demonstrate knowledge of oncology medical coding (Level Sr).
• Demonstrate knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing required (Level Sr).
