About the Role

Databento is seeking a mid-level or senior engineer to join our Platform/API team. This role focuses on building and maintaining our JavaScript client library, collaborating with the design team to create production-ready interfaces, and contributing to full-stack projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and some Python.

Responsibilities

• Own, build, and maintain our JavaScript client library, ensuring it is robust, well-tested, and easy for external users to integrate with.
• Integrate native libraries into JavaScript/TypeScript code using tools like N-API, node-addon-api, or Wasm.
• Build responsive, performant front-end applications using React, Redux, Vite, Web Workers, and WebSockets.
• Contribute to full-stack projects, including backend work in Python (or Rust), REST API design, and database/migration work.
• Work between design and engineering teams to translate designs (e.g. Figma handoffs) into production-ready components and design systems.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including publishing to npm.
• Document components using Storybook or similar tooling.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth feature rollouts and updates.

Requirements

• Experience working between high-performing design and engineering teams, including production-ready design systems and tools (e.g. Figma handoffs).
• Hands-on backend experience building APIs, working with databases, and migrations.
• Full-stack experience with backends in Python or Rust, including REST API design.
• Good communication skills and work ethic for a remote workplace.
