About the Role
The Janitor is responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. This role involves various cleaning tasks, including floor care, trash removal, and maintaining restrooms and common areas. Special projects may also be assigned.
Responsibilities
- Sweep and mop floors
- Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces
- Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment
- Steam-clean carpets
- Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces
- Mix various cleaning agents
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
- Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean
- Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants
- Clean, wash and disinfect chutes
- Clean & wash the front street entrances
- Clean & vacuum lobbies
- Vacuum floors
- Sweep garage
- Pressure wash/sweep/blow courtyard
- Clean fountain
- Clean laundry rooms
- Clean & mop fire escape/emergency stairs
- Clean Elevators
- Clean Atriums/Foyers
- Take out recycling and trash bins
- Help load trash onto Mosser truck
- Remove garbage trash compactors
- Wash recycle and trash bins
- Clean offices
- Clean break-room
- Clean and disinfect elevators
- Clean and Power wash exterior of buildings
- Gardening/ landscaping projects
- Apartment Cleaning as necessary
- Clean planter boxes
- Report needed supplies to management
- Assist with weekly/monthly/quarterly cleaning
- Assist in training new staff as needed
- Complete special projects as needed
Requirements
- Able to follow both written and verbal instructions well
- A valid California license and vehicle is prefered.
- Ability to select and use cleaning agents and equipment effectively
- Must be quick yet thorough
- Must be self-directed, able to work without supervision
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Must have basic math skills
- Good interpersonal communication skills for relating to other staff, building tenants, or company customers
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
