About the Role
The Enforcement and Compliance Division maintains the safety and compliance of the state transportation network. Officers focus on public safety by protecting life, property, and infrastructure, ensuring the safe movement of commercial traffic, and enforcing state and federal laws.
Responsibilities
- Screen commercial driver and vehicle credentials
- Weigh commercial vehicles
- Perform enhanced vehicle identity inspections
- Ensure registration compliance
- Conduct commercial vehicle safety inspections
- Conduct traffic stops on commercial vehicles
- Issue applicable permits and route over-dimensional loads
- Collect appropriate fees and taxes
- Inspect vehicles, dealer, and salvage yard operations
- Take appropriate enforcement action as authorized by law
- Prepare clear and concise written reports
- Testify in court when required
- Make arrests when necessary
Requirements
- Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) Full Authority certification
- Weapons certification in accordance with AZPOST standards
- Obtain Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) certification within 6 months of hire
- Valid driver's license
- Background check
- In and out-of-state travel
- Successfully complete Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)
- Must meet all minimum qualifications for certification as an Arizona Peace Officer
- Must have completed basic and advanced training comparable to the Arizona basic course
