About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Developer to contribute to ecobee’s impact and learn from strong Engineering Talent. Our Backend team uses leading-edge technologies to innovate highly concurrent, Java-based server applications that directly impact ecobee’s success. You may work on deploying applications within ecobee's infrastructure as well as AWS and Google Cloud Platform. We encourage the freedom to investigate and evaluate new technologies to solve complex problems, allowing your input to have a significant and direct impact on our company and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Get hands-on with development of production features along with the rest of your team.
- Participate in planning, scoping, and creating specifications for production features.
- Learn about performance testing, unit testing, and debugging of critical high-volume systems.
- Work with best-of-breed backend technologies and techniques.
- Be mentored by senior software developers.
Requirements
- A current Computer Science, Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering student.
- Proficient at writing software in Golang, Java, C# or Node/Javascript with Typescript, Python.
- Good at getting your code to run on Linux-based systems.
- Familiar with how to get your code "live", from getting it reviewed, merged into a production Git branch, and orchestrated on the cloud or in a datacenter.
- Care about the stability of what you build so our customers have a great experience 24/7.
- An interest or experience in working with databases.
- Eager to improve your software craft.
- Curious, thoughtful, and practical!
- Would like to make a difference in an intellectual and planet-positive environment.
- The hired candidate will be required to complete a background check.
