About the Role

As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening mass affluent client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service. You will build and leverage external and internal networks, understanding that growing a practice involves building new and long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in proactive client outreach to individuals outside the Scotiabank network.
  • Identify and engage with existing Scotiabank clients who may have limited interaction with the bank.
  • Mine opportunities and cultivate meaningful connections, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor.
  • Build strong internal partnerships across the branch network.
  • Drive investment sales and new client acquisition, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish business development opportunities with prospects and clients within the assigned market area.
  • Execute business development plans for mass affluent prospects and existing clients.
  • Identify additional business development opportunities and facilitate the implementation of an investment solution and/or referral to appropriate partners.
  • Provide client-centric investment solutions through a financial planning framework, aligning with Global Sales Principles.
  • Conduct outbound communications and proactive calling to prospects.
  • Conduct complimentary needs analysis across several financial statements, including competitor statements.
  • Participate actively in local professional and community events and associations.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver community information sessions and financial seminars.
  • Build and maintain a market profile in the assigned market area.
  • Network with investment industry specialists while managing a small budget for independent marketing-based activities.

Requirements

  • 3-years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Mutual fund certified professional with current accreditation and good standing for CIRO licensing requirements (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Successfully completed a Personal Financial Planning (PFP®) designation and/or a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
  • Proven networking, client acquisition and interpersonal skills; experience building and maintaining Centres of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented and entrepreneurial.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-motivated entrepreneur with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team.
  • Extensive knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions, and the regulatory environment.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle, to meet clients and prospects within the designated district.
