About the Role
This role requires extensive travel throughout the United States to provide hands-on service and aftermarket support for customers. The Field Service Technician will also support claims and quality departments and work closely with management. Candidates should be motivated, technically inclined, and possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines.
- Conduct electrical, hydraulic, and disc troubleshooting.
- Complete various reports, checklists, and hazard analyses.
- Participate in company and customer health, safety, and environment (HSE) and training programs.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to industry partners.
- Implement work procedures for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining wind turbine components.
- Populate, track, and communicate client and company documentation daily.
- Maintain a clean work area, equipment, and tooling.
- Maintain required training certifications, including GWO modules (Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, First Aid, ART, BTT, SGTT) and Fall Protection/Rescue Training, LOTO, First Aid/CPR/AED.
- Prepare for service visits by investigating the scope of work, gathering manuals and drawings, and requesting necessary information or personnel.
- Perform service tasks onsite, including verifying brake, disc, and hydraulic system installation, troubleshooting, and grooving discs.
- Write detailed reports including recommended spare parts after service visits.
- Upsell spare parts during service jobs.
- Secure service contracts with customers.
- Perform field claim jobs.
- Develop training programs for customers.
- Handle ad hoc assignments.
Requirements
- Ability to travel 100% throughout the United States.
- Must possess a valid passport.
- Competent to work on wind turbines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint minimum).
- Ability to work in a team environment and share information.
- Ability to handle deadlines and stressful situations.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to listen to customer wants, needs, and expectations.
- Technical understanding and background knowledge of wind turbines.
- Customer service skills.
- Basic Safety Training (BST) certification from GWO.
- Basic Technical Training (BTT) certification from GWO.
- Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certification from GWO.
