About the Role

The Director, Health Systems, Central, Eastern and Northern Canada drives business growth by expanding LifeLabs' partnerships across Ontario, the Atlantic provinces, and Canada’s Northern Territories. Focused on government and public sector clients, this role identifies and secures strategic opportunities that support better healthcare access and patient outcomes. The Director leads the full business development process from opportunity identification and relationship building through contract execution and transition to operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a regional growth strategy and multi-year roadmap across Ontario, Atlantic Canada, and Northern regions
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities across public sector opportunities
  • Advance LifeLabs’ position in federal healthcare opportunities
  • Translate policy, funding, and health system trends into actionable growth opportunities and solution strategies
  • Collaborate with the Quebec BD team on pan-Canadian or overlapping opportunities
  • Own the full business development lifecycle: market engagement, pipeline development, opportunity qualification, RFP/proposal leadership, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation
  • Deliver against revenue and growth targets, including net-new business and strategic expansions
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop competitive, high-quality proposals and winning bid strategies
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting using CRM and analytics tools
  • Lead and develop a core sales and account management team to drive disciplined execution, client engagement, and growth outcomes
  • Build and maintain trusted, senior-level relationships with provincial ministries, regional health authorities, hospital leaders, LTC organizations, and federal stakeholders
  • Act as a strategic advisor by understanding system priorities, procurement pathways, and policy dynamics
  • Represent LifeLabs in government forums, industry events, and key stakeholder engagements
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments across jurisdictions and funding models
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across operations, clinical, digital, finance, legal, and marketing to advance opportunities
  • Support development of solution offerings and service models aligned to health system needs
  • Ensure strong internal alignment to enable effective pursuit, contracting, and transition to delivery
  • Bring forward market insights to inform product and service roadmap evolution
  • Partner closely with service delivery and implementation teams, who hold primary accountability for onboarding and operational execution
  • Ensure a seamless transition from contract to implementation through effective internal coordination and stakeholder alignment
  • Maintain executive-level relationships post-sale to support long-term partnership growth, renewal, and expansion
  • Identify opportunities to deepen partnerships through additional services, programs, or geographic expansion

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or growth leadership, preferably in healthcare or public-sector environments
  • 7 years project management experience
  • Proven success selling into government, hospitals, LTC, or broader health systems
  • Experience navigating public-sector procurement processes, including RFPs and complex stakeholder environment
  • Demonstrated track record of originating and closing large, strategic deals
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare landscape, including provincial and federal dynamics
  • Ability to engage and influence at the executive and senior government level
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations and leading cross-functional initiatives
  • High comfort level and experience working with C-Suite and Government stakeholders
