About the Role
Join the YMCA Child Care Team in London as a Child Care Dietary Planner (Cook). Be the spark that ignites potential in others by preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children. This role is crucial in supporting healthy children, families, and communities.
Responsibilities
- Primarily preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the childcare facility and provide snack support to local YMCA School Age Programs
- Responsible for ordering and purchasing food for programs while maintaining budget requirements
- Plan meals and meet the individual needs of each child’s diet due to health or religious restrictions, with strong knowledge of the Canada Food Guide
- Participate in consultation, problem solving and sharing of resources with Director, centre team and other department dietary planners
- Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times
- Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and YMCA policies and procedures
- Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and YMCA policies and procedures and public health regulations

Requirements
- Hold a Valid Food Handler’s Certification recognized by public health
- Valid Intermediate/Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification or include the date of training scheduled within the next three months
- Minimum of 18 years of age or older to obtain a current Vulnerable Criminal Reference Check (less than 6 months old)
- Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health, Ministry of Education and YMCASWO
- Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending, and stooping
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- All employees and volunteers are required to provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record and may require a Vulnerable Sector Search as a condition of their employment
- Police Record checks are reviewed on an individual basis
Skills
- Strong knowledge of the Canada Food Guide
- Ability to effectively communicate with Employees & Members
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment cooking for large groups

Salary/Compensations
- Starting at $40,950.00 annually
