About the Role
Meriwether Godsey is seeking a Utility Steward responsible for maintaining the sanitation of the kitchen, cafeteria, and dining room at a private men's college in Farmville, VA.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, and pans.
- Scrape, separate, and organize items for dishwashing.
- Note and record dish-machine temperatures, reporting malfunctions immediately.
- Transport related supplies and assist in setting up dining and serving areas.
- Clean cafeteria areas throughout and after meal periods to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Set up and use a three-compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, and trash removal.
- Assist with receiving and storing food products and food preparation following correct food handling procedures.
- Perform all duties under food safety and sanitation best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior dishwashing experience (1 year preferred).
- Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to switch between tasks and responsibilities.
- Reliability and willingness to work in a hot, humid environment.
- Ability to stand/move about for long periods and lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to adhere to company safety and sanitation procedures.
- Good communication skills and a great attitude.
- Ability to work weekdays and weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
