Responsibilities
- Serve as a project manager, technical leader, or task leader for transportation or transit-related structural engineering projects.
- Coordinate the structural design team through design development and contract document phases.
- Prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Conduct design development and contract document work sessions.
- Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials, and their respective sizes.
- Complete necessary structural calculations.
- Review structural documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
- Coordinate and assist with addendums, requests for information, change proposal requests, and change orders.
- Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents.
- Lead transit-related site inspections to verify field conditions and identify defects.
- Support rehabilitation and repair planning.
- Coordinate with subconsultants to maintain project schedules and budgets.
- Manage day-to-day client communication.
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
- Implement project quality plans.
- Review the work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field, and 3 years of experience in structural engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field, and 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Experience in structural analysis and design for steel and concrete.
- Experience with RAM Elements, RAM Structures, MATHCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, RISA Foundation, spColumn, and spMAT.
- Must hold Engineer-in-Training certification or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite.
- All HDR positions in the US may be subject to background checks and/or pre-employment drug testing.
