About the Role

As an Employee Relations Partner at eBay, you will provide mentorship, support, and recommendations for resolving complex employee relations matters. You will consult and mentor Americas-based staff and supervisors on performance management, compliance, investigations, conflict resolution, benefits policy, labor law, and sensitive exit management. This role is crucial for improving employee experience and delivering end-to-end support to our global workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and advice to managers on performance management and remedial measures relevant to the location jurisdiction.
  • Help managers implement corrective action processes consistently across business entities.
  • Deliver employee relations related presentations and training content.
  • Respond to and resolve HR-related inquiries from employees, managers, Centers of Excellence, and Vendors via email and chat, meeting agreed Service Level Agreements.
  • Apply a Case Management System to record case notes.
  • Approve and facilitate HR transactions as required by automated workflows and processes when the primary self-service channel cannot be used.
  • Help new hires prepare to onboard from verbal offer to their first day.
  • Conduct internal investigations and advise on employee complaints and grievances.
  • Recommend solutions, conduct root cause analysis, and assist with facilitation of remediation activities and corrective action.
  • Provide jurisdictionally appropriate legal advice and interpretation on employment legislation.
  • Handle most aspects of involuntary employee terminations in conjunction with the business.
  • Support managers and employees through departmental restructuring activities in partnership with People Business Partners.
  • Support complicated leave of absence and accommodation situations with a high-touch and consistent approach.
  • Participate in broad range of projects across the People Experience team.
  • Recommend process improvement and policy development.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated solid knowledge and understanding of employment legislation, including interpretation and application.
  • Covers employment practices related to performance management, FMLA, Canada Labour Code, ADA, Accessible Canada Act (ACA), FLSA, and ERISA.
  • Proven knowledge of Employee Standards Act, Common Law, Human Rights Code and Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, MOL Leave of Absence Rights or equivalent experience, and Labour Relations Act.
  • Experience with Canadian Employment Contracts and probationary periods.
  • Thorough familiarity and insight into employment legislation for US and Canada, including interpretation and application, along with employment practices.
  • Full knowledge of Canadian laws and ability to direct and participate in US situations, particularly in performance management, leave, and accommodation.
  • Demonstrate effective influencing skills to provide resolution to complex and highly sensitive employee relations issues.
  • Experience leading multiple, concurrent, high-priority employee relations activities with a focus on timely and consistent execution.
  • Ability to deliver a high level of performance and service excellence.
  • Ability to anticipate potential issues and diagnose root cause through effective listening skills and inquiry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with peers, managers, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Stellar documentation skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify trends, analyze issues, and communicate insights to influence change.
  • Experience in preparation and delivery of presentations/training to managers.
  • Ability to use sound judgment to problem-solve, make decisions, and involve necessary individuals at the appropriate time.
  • Demonstrated ability to recommend appropriate solutions to People Partners and business leaders.
  • Proficient at coaching and developing manager capabilities.
  • Strong analytical approach and able troubleshooter adept at analyzing detailed information.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural, global organization.
  • Ability to build strong trust-based relationships with remote client groups and colleagues.
  • Operate as a strong self-starter with a high degree of autonomy.

  • C$85,600 - C$114,300
