About the Role

Sentient Industries is seeking a full-time Power Electronics Engineer in Austin, TX to architect, design, and develop advanced power electronics for next-generation battery management systems, inverters, DC/DC converters, and rectifiers. The role involves translating system requirements into robust electrical designs and managing projects from concept to implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement power electronic systems based on product requirements
  • Develop and validate power conversion systems, including DC/DC converters, rectifiers, chargers, and inverters
  • Design electrical schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer
  • Perform circuit simulation, testing, debugging, and validation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for product integration
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Create engineering documentation, including schematics, design specifications, and test plans
  • Support prototype builds and product transition into manufacturing

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design and development
  • 3+ years of experience designing production power electronics
  • Experience designing DC/DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, switching power supplies, or battery chargers
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Experience designing fail-safe control systems
  • Experience with electrical simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, Simulink, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of power electronics design and electrical system architecture
  • Ability to take a design from requirements through implementation
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Candidates must either reside in the Austin area or be willing to relocate at their own expense
