About the Role
Beowulf E&D operates and maintains critical infrastructure for next-generation AI computing and high-performance data center operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the continuous, safe, and reliable operation of mission-critical cooling systems that keep AI infrastructure running at peak performance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Support mission-critical cooling systems used in data center and high-performance computing environments.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues using modern diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to maximize reliability, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.
- Test system performance and calibrate controls, thermostats, sensors, and monitoring systems.
- Repair or replace defective components including motors, compressors, belts, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Respond to emergency system failures and support rapid restoration of critical cooling infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation within CMMS platforms.
- Work collaboratively with electrical, operations, engineering, and contractor teams to support facility reliability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and critical facility procedures.
- Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment.
- Adhere to confined space entry requirements when applicable.
- Safely handle refrigerants in accordance with EPA standards and environmental regulations.
- Utilize fall protection equipment when working at elevations.
- Identify and mitigate hazards associated with electrical systems, rotating equipment, chemicals, and pressurized systems.
- Participate in job hazard analyses, safety meetings, training programs, and toolbox talks.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near-miss events.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or HVAC trade school preferred.
- Proven HVAC experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, refrigeration systems, electrical components, and automated controls.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and maintenance technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, emergency response activities, and shift coverage as needed.
