About the Role
As the first dedicated talent hire, you will own recruiting end-to-end, including sourcing, pipeline management, process optimization, closing candidates, and ensuring an excellent candidate experience. This role will evolve into a leadership position, building and managing the talent function as the company scales.
Responsibilities
- Run full-cycle recruiting for open roles across engineering, GTM, clinical, and operations
- Source candidates through proactive outreach, as many top hires will not apply directly
- Partner with the CEO and hiring managers to define roles, set hiring standards, and secure candidates
- Manage the Applicant Tracking System (Ashby), track pipeline metrics, and ensure high-quality interview processes
- Develop recruiting infrastructure, including structured interviews, scorecards, referral programs, and employer branding initiatives
- Effectively communicate the Hike company story to attract top talent
- Oversee agencies and contract recruiters when necessary
- Hire and lead additional recruiters as the team grows
Requirements
- 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with significant in-house experience at a startup
- Proven success in closing challenging searches, including technical roles, senior leadership positions, or in competitive markets
- Demonstrated strength in sourcing, with a track record of building candidate pipelines through cold outreach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring candidates are enthusiastic after every interaction
- Ability to manage 6+ concurrent searches efficiently without losing track of candidates
- Strong judgment in evaluating candidates for potential hires
- Ambition to grow into a leadership role, with a clear path to Head of Talent
- Must be able to work in person in San Francisco
