About the Role

KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to provide on-site culturally responsive and trauma-informed mental health and social-emotional support to students. This role involves therapeutic services, outreach, and education on mental health and wellness topics within a public school setting. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting children and adolescents, particularly those with trauma.

Responsibilities

Provide culturally responsive MTSS-aligned school-based mental health and substance abuse services including individual, group, and family treatment, therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, assessment & treatment planning, clinical evaluation, and consultation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop daily programming and interventions meeting client needs.
Conduct outreach and education on mental health issues to students, families, community members, professionals, and school staff.
Develop and maintain administrative and treatment records using an electronic health record and SEIS.
Participate in required internal and external training.
Attend student services meetings (e.g., COST, SST, IEP meetings).
Provide crisis intervention, assessments, and triage of students.
Establish and maintain contact with community-based social service agencies for referrals.
Potentially coordinate counseling interns from outside agencies.
Perform other assigned duties that do not compromise counseling relationships.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
Registered associate (AMFT, ASW, APCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences, or qualify under the BBS 90-Day rule and have submitted BBS application within 90 days of graduation.
Licensed (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Familiarity with community behavioral health systems of care.
Familiarity with special education, IEP team participation, and educationally related mental health services.
Familiarity with local community resources/services.

Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs.
Ability to manage stress, analyze problems, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, perform routine math, and memorize/recall.
Ability to adhere to KIPP’s health and safety guidelines.

Experience Level
